PROJECT COBURG

We were contacted by a European family with three young girls who weren't very happy with the state of their windows in their Coburg home especially compared to the high performance windows that they were used to back in Europe. Almost all the upstairs and down stairs windows were rotting and they could see their bedroom curtains moving on a windy day. The original windows had hardwood frames, but the awning windows were made of pine, which hadn’t been maintained, so had started to rot quite badly.

The brief was to replace all the windows and doors in the whole house which included eight windows upstairs and eight windows and doors on the ground floor.

The newly replaced windows and doors are double glazed aluminium thermally broken units with two 5mm glass panels and 12mm argon filled gap. All the glass has a low E coating on them to further enhance thermal efficiency. We replaced their old sliding doors with French doors and a sidelight.

All the opening windows come with rubber gaskets that ensure an airtight fit when closed. The owners decided to change a couple of windows to fixed (no openable panel) which have not only enabled better airtightness but also brightened up the family areas inside.

The family was really happy with our products and delighted with the results and the differences that the new windows have made to the whole house. The comfort level in their home has risen significantly, the home is noticeably quieter with a new school being built nearby and more thermally efficient ready for our Melbourne winter.
